Very Rare Bristol-Slip-Glazed Stoneware Frog Pitcher with Monkey Handle, probably Anna Pottery, circa 1880, molded pitcher in the form of a large frog grasping a stump with raised designs of oak leaves and acorns, the figure's open mouth forming the pitcher's spout. Handle in the form of a hatted monkey grasping a branch. Surface covered in a whitish Bristol slip glaze. Frog's eyes decorated with cobalt and brown slip. Outstanding figural form. Entire lower jaw restored. Thin cracks in underside, one of which extends onto base. Chips to brim of monkeys hat. H 14".
