Salt-Glazed Stoneware Mortar with Wooden Pestle, Southeastern U.S. origin, 19th century, the mortar with large rounded foot, flared body, and rounded rim, covered in a heavy salt glaze over a dark clay ground. Includes 19th century wooden pestle with tooled bands and brown and black paint. Mortar in excellent condition. Pestle with expected wear and paint loss. H (of mortar) 5 3/4".
