Small Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar with Open Handles, Edgefield, SC, possibly B.F. Landrum, circa 1840, ovoid form with flared rim and open strap handles (one missing), the body decorated with two groups of incised wavy lines around the circumference. Surface covered in a light grayish alkaline glaze. Excellent form. Provenance: Recently found in Georgia. Missing one handle. 7/8" long rim chip, along with other much smaller rim chips and rim wear. 1 3/4" vertical hairline at base. 1 1/2" and 1 1/4" hairlines from rim, with small sections of these lines visible on interior. H 7 1/2".
