One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Crock, Stamped "H.C. SMITH / ALEXA / D.C.," circa 1840, cylindrical crock with squared rim and applied tab handles, decorated with a large horizontal floral design across the front and three leaves on the reverse. The squat, cylindrical form of this jar is unusual for Smith stoneware. Broken into pieces and professionally restored. H 6 5/8" ; Diameter 7".
