Five-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Ohio origin, circa 1870, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, coved rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt "5" flanked by a wavy stripes and underscored by dashes. Impressed "5" on reverse. 4" and 3" groups of spidering lines at midsection on front. 1 3/4" rim chip on side of jar. A few chips on interior of rim. H 14 3/4".
