Four-Gallon Ovoid Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "N. CLARK, & CO, / LYONS.N.Y*," circa 1840, skillfully-potted, highly ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder, flared rim, and large lug handles. Decorated with a brushed cobalt flower extending from a stem with two leaves. Excellent form and color. Provenance: Lynn White Collection, Readfield, ME. Rim chips. Some small, light flakes at base. Hairline extending along section of base and partway up reverse of jar, where it forms a Y. H 14 3/4".
