Five-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "M. WOODRUFF / CORTLAND," New York State origin, circa 1867-1869, semi-ovoid churn with flaring collar and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed cobalt design of a tulip plant bearing three blossoms with slip-trailed stamens and leaves. Provenance: Lynn white Collection, Readfield, ME. Excellent condition with expected chipping to inner ledge where a lid would rest. H 18 1/4".
