Very Rare Fragmented Stoneware Churn with Large Cobalt Lion Decoration, New York State origin, third quarter 19th century, semi-ovoid churn featuring the slip-trailed cobalt decoration of a lion with elaborate mane, dashed body, and open mouth, its arms stretched before it. Figure underscored with looping slip-trailed lines. Exceptional decoration. Provenance: Lynn White Collection, Readfield, ME. Churn broken into numerous pieces, with a large number of pieces missing. H 16 3/4".
