Large-Sized Shenandoah Valley Redware Match Safe, Strasburg, VA origin, late 19th century, rounded cup-shaped vessel with stepped pedestal base, the surface decorated with whitish slip and splashed copper glaze under a clear lead glaze. A somewhat larger example than is typically found. 1 1/4" base chip along with two minor base chips. Small piece of slip-coated clay adhered to rim. H 3 3/8" ; Diameter (at base) 3".
