Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Elaborate Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "W.H. FARRAR & CO. / GEDDES, NY," circa 1860, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a bird with striped body, perched on a stylized fence or lawn with flowers blooming to the left. Slip-trailed "6" with flourishes to the right of the bird. Provenance: Lynn White Collection, Readfield, ME. Top-to-bottom crack on front. 3" hairline on front. Flaking to surface with some blue touch-up to decoration. 7" hairline on reverse. Rim chips. Chips to one handle. Rim secured with a wire. H 13 3/4".
