Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "RIEDINGER & CAIRE / POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.," circa 1860, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a long-tailed bird perched an wide, heavily-shaded stump flanked by brushed shrubs. Provenance: Lynn White Collection, Readfield, ME. As-made condition with a minor in-the-firing chip on interior of rim. H 9 1/4".
