Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "W.H. FARRAR & CO. / GEDDES, N.Y.," circa 1860, ovoid jar with flared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed flowering plant design featuring three blossoms with dotted and dashed interiors. Excellent decoration. Provenance: Lynn White Collection, Readfield, ME. Large Y-shaped crack at base, extending across underside, and 1" up reverse. 1 1/2" chip to rim on reverse. A few minor chips to interior of rim. 3 1/2" salt drip on reverse. Long crack from rim on reverse. Some spots of fry to cobalt. A few faint lines under one handle and on reverse. H 10 3/4".
