Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jar, attributed to J.D. Heatwole, Rockingham Co., VA, third quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with flattened rim and tooled shoulder, covered in a salt glaze over a gray ground. Provenance: Consigned by a descendant of J.D. Heatwole. Hairlines on underside, extending onto base area, and one extending 7" up side of jar. H 10".
