Rare Anna Pottery Stoneware Frog Inkwell, Incised "Anna Pottery 1879," Wallace and Cornwall Kirkpatrick, Anna, IL, wheel-thrown, dome-shaped inkwell surmounted by a molded and applied figure of a frog with notched sides and incised detail to mouth and feet. Inkwell incised in ornate penmanship across front "Anna Pottery / 1879." Frog includes original, finely-painted surface with a green body, yellow throat with black specks, and mouth, dimples, back stripes, and eyes, all painted black. Inkwell itself is painted brown. A fine example of the whimsical work of the Kirkpatrick brothers. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, consigned from California. Excellent condition with some paint wear. H 3 1/4" ; Diameter 3 1/4".
