Scarce Half-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, attributed to William Nichols, Poughkeepsie, NY, circa 1825, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded spout, cobalt-decorated with a stylized foliate design characteristic of William Nichols stoneware. Several small base chips. Small chip to interior of spout. Two small flakes to side of jug, measuring 3/8" and 3/4". H 9 5/8".
