Unusual Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "C. VAUPEL / POTTERY / 78 WALLABOUT ST / BROOKLYN," New York origin, circa 1880, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large cobalt leaf. Uncommon makers mark. 1 1/2" rim chip on reverse. 1 1/2" chip on underside, probably in-the-making. Small base chip on reverse. A few minor base chips and a few minor chips on interior of rim where a lid would rest. H 13 1/4".
