Rare Two-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug with Kaolin Slip Floral Decoration, Stamped "CHANDLER / MAKER," Edgefield, SC origin, circa 1850, skillfully-potted ovoid jug with finely-tooled spout and ribbed strap handle, decorated with a slip-trailed kaolin floral blossom surrounding a "2" and the impressed mark "CHANDLER / MAKER". Surface covered in an attractive pale green celadon glaze. Provenance: Georgeanna Greer Collection. Three short in-the-firing lines at base, measuring 1", 1", and 1/2", which extend and connect on underside. A few additional lines in underside. H 14 1/2".
