Eight-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "JAS. HAMILTON & CO., / GREENSBORO, / PA," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with freehand stripes and stenciled flowers and foliate motifs. Stenciled 8 at base. Provenance: Tom McCandless Collection, Hopewell, NJ. Excellent condition with a handle chip, minor worn spot to shoulder, 1 3/4" worn spot under one handle, and spots of staining to surface. H 18 3/4".
