Scarce Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Swag Decoration, Stamped "SOLOMON BELL / STRASBURG / Va," circa 1870, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-squared rim, decorated with a large brushed opposing swag design on the front and back. This decoration is typical of Bell's work, but rare on a jar this small. Y-shaped hairline on underside, one of which extends onto base 1". 1/2" contact mark near base on one side. H 8 1/4".
