Stoneware Canning Jar with Stenciled Rose Decoration, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES," Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1875, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and rounded rim with wax sealer interior, the front decorated with a stenciled rose surrounded by leaves. Provenance: Tom McCandless Collection, Hopewell, NJ. Minor chips to interior of rim. Restoration to a 3" area at base, along with a restored 2" crack that extends from it. A few hairlines on underside, extending a short distance onto base. Glazed-over 3" chip on reverse. A few other small base chips. Small chips on interior of rim and along shoulder molding. Salt drip near base on front. H 8 1/2".
