Five-Gallon Open-Handled Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Decoration, Ohio origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, narrow opening with original lid, and applied open handles, decorated with a brushed number 5 flanked by "tornado" designs and underscored by an apple. Incised "5" on reverse. Areas of exfoliation on front and reverse. Some exfoliation to one handle. Two chips to edge of handle. Glaze wear to interior rim area. One small chip to handle knob. H 16 1/2".
