Unusual Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1865, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied tab handles, decorated on the front with a two-stemmed clover plant, and on the reverse with a spitting tulip design in the style of Harrisburg, PA stoneware. This jar was likely decorated by a potter previously employed in Harrisburg. Minor faint lines in shoulder on reverse, which do not extend through to interior. Minor rim chips. 2" hairline on underside, extending 4" up base of jar on front. H 12 1/2".
