Exceedingly Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1830, ovoid jug with tall spout and ribbed strap handle, decorated with two large cobalt flowers connected by wreath-like brushwork. Decoration executed in bold, thick brush strokes of cobalt over a light gray ground. Decorated stoneware jugs from Baltimore are virtually unheard of. Base chips. Hairline in underside. 1 1/4" contact mark on right side of jug. H 17 1/2".
