One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, James River Basin, VA, circa 1830, ovoid jar with flaring rim and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and back with a wavy cobalt stripe. Provenance: From a thirty-year Virginia collection. 7" hairline from rim. Base chip. 1 3/4" rim chip above one handle. Traces of white paint to rim area. H 10 1/2".
