Extremely Rare HARMONY VILLAGE, VA Stoneware Advertising Crock, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1880, cylindrical crock with semi-squared rim, decorated around the body with three brushed cobalt clover heads. Impressed with the cobalt-highlighted merchant advertising "CT MARSTON & CO / HARMONY VILLAGE VA." Harmony Village is located about fifty miles north of Williamsburg. A highly unusual example of Baltimore stoneware made for the Virginia market. Provenance: From a thirty-year Virginia collection. Crock is out of round. Stone ping and recessed spot on shoulder. 1 1/2" rim chip, which is shallow and smooth. Two minor chips on interior of rim. H 10".
