Fine Large-Sized Westerwald Stoneware "GR" Mug, German origin, circa 1740, cylindrical mug with heavily-tooled bands and applied Georgius Rex medallion with raised crown. Medallion flanked by incised foliate designs extending onto reverse. Decoration and banding highlighted in cobalt slip. Desirable large size. Minor 1 3/4" hairline on underside. 4 1/2" hairline from rim on reverse. Chip on interior of rim on reverse. H 6 3/4".
