Four-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Churn, Southeastern U.S. origin, late 19th century, slender form with rounded shoulder, tall collar, and applied arching handles, the surface covered in a brownish alkaline glaze. Incised "4" on shoulder. Handle, base, and rim chips, including a 1 5/8" chip to one handle. H 19 1/2".
