Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Man-in-the-Moon Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, ovoid jug with squared spout and applied strap handle, decorated with a large brushed cobalt profile of a man with long nose and prominent chin, extending from a crescent-shaped group of leaves. Jug is broken and reglued. Two small nicks to interior of spout. H 13 1/4".
