Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Freehand Cobalt Decoration, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES / GREENSBORO. / PA," circa 1875, semi-ovoid form with tooled shoulder and narrow spout, decorated with freehand cobalt vining at the shoulder above Hamilton & Jones stenciling. Base decorated with a freehand "2" flanked by dashes and underscored by a stripe. Recessed contact mark on front. Salt glob to left of upper handle terminal. Additional smooth contact mark on reverse. H 15".
