Outstanding Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Exceptionally Large Fantail Bird Decoration, Stamped "W. ROBERTS / BINGHAMTON NY," circa 1870, large-sized cylindrical crock with rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a very large slip-trailed cobalt bird with crest, spotted details, and fan-shaped tail, perched on a flowering vine. Exceptional color and size to decoration. Decoration extends 14" diagonally across the front of the crock. Handle chip. Two small base chips. Chips on interior of rim, some of which occurred in the firing. H 13 1/2".
