Redware Plate with Sgraffito Drummer and Fifer Decoration, attributed to Jacob Medinger, Limerick Township, Montgomery Co., PA, late 19th century, decorated with two incised figures in military garb, one beating a drum, the other playing a fife. Figures flanked by sgraffito floral decorations. Surface decorated with sponged manganese and copper over a yellowish slip ground. Surface covered in a clear lead glaze. This plate was modeled after a plate made circa 1810 by David Spinner of Bucks County, PA. Visually-appealing decoration and glaze. Excellent condition with a chip and tiny nick to rim. Diameter 8 1/2".
