Rare Miniature Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, attributed to J. Swank & Co., Johnstown, PA, circa 1870, ovoid jar with flattened rim, decorated with a series of four brushed cobalt drooping leaves. Form, color, and decoration, are consistent with stoneware produced in Johnstown, PA by J. Swank & Co. 1/2" rim chip. Chip on underside. 3/4" thin, in-the-firing touch mark on one side. Very faint lines on underside, one of which continues onto base 1/2". Jar is slightly out of round. H 3 1/4".
