Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Cream Jar with Cobalt Man-in-the-Moon Decoration, Stamped "SIPE, NICHOLS & CO. / Williamsport, Pa.," circa 1875, ovoid jar with flattened rim, decorated with the facial profile of a long-nosed man flanked by a leafy stem. A desirable Central PA decoration, the man-in-the-moon design is significantly rarer on Williamsport examples than on those by Cowden & Wilcox of Harrisburg. As-made condition with two horizontal contact marks on front and shallow contact mark on rim. H 8".
