Rare Daniel in the Lion's Den Redware Trivet, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO," circa 1850-1880, thick circular slab resting on three feet, decorated with a molded design of the biblical figure Daniel, flanked by two rearing lions. Decoration surrounded by molded studs and flowering urns. Surface decorated with sponged manganese over a yellowish ground, and covered in a clear lead glaze. Impressed with John Bell maker's mark on underside. Highly desirable Bell family molded decoration. Chip to edge and some wear to surface. 1 1/2" x 1" stone ping on underside. Diameter 9 1/2".
