Early Stoneware Jug, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / MANHATTAN, WELLS / NEW-YORK," circa 1810, approximately three-gallon jug with tooled spout and ribbed handle, decorated cobalt brushwork at the handle terminals and highlighting the large impressed maker's mark of Clarkson Crolius, Sr. 1/2" and 1/4" holes in reverse. In-the-firing kiln furniture residue attached to surface. Spout chips and heavy chipping to base. Spidering crack to shoulder area on front. In-the-firing, approximately 3 3/4" circular spidering crack on right side of jug. In-the-firing lines to spout. H 15 1/2".
