Cobalt-Decorated German Stoneware Jug with Incised Horse Decoration, Westerwald origin, 19th century, with flattened sides and tall spout, decorated with an incised galloping horse with reins flanked by floral designs. Shoulder decorated with incised looping line designs. Incised decoration surrounded by cobalt slip. Spout, handle, and base, decorated with cobalt stripes. Base area further embellished with incised combing. A few in-the-firing surface flakes. H 9 3/4".
