Five-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Crock, Stamped "P. HERRMANN," Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt hanging flower design on the front and a two-stemmed clover design on the reverse. Hairlines on underside. Large inverted Y-shaped crack from rim on front with small filled and colored sections, measuring approximately 13 1/2". Hairlines on underside. Rim secured with a metal wire. Stone ping on reverse. In-the-firing, top-to-bottom separation on reverse, visible only on interior. H 15 1/2".
