Rare Ovoid Stoneware Jar with Manganese Floral Decoration, Stamped "H. GLAZIER / HUNTINGDON, PA," circa 1840, approximately four-gallon ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and heavily-ribbed handles, decorated with a brushed manganese flowering vine design across the front and back. Impressed with rare Henry Glazier maker's mark on shoulder. Highly desirable maker and attractive reddish-colored decoration. 1 3/8" shallow rim chip and one smaller rim chip. 2" vertical line below rim on front, which does not go through to interior. Contact mark with small piece of kiln furniture attached on front. One handle chip. A few very minor base nicks. H 15 1/4".
