Possibly Unique Two-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Kaleidoscopic Star Decoration, Stamped "M. & T. MILLER / NEWPORT, PA," circa 1870, cylindrical form with rounded shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large brushed cobalt star with smaller shaded and hollow stars on the interior. Star is embellished with cobalt dots on the interior and a star at each point. A possibly unique and visually-stunning decoration by one of Central Pennsylvania's most prized makers. Reminiscent of the visual effects of a kaleidoscope. Base and rim chips. Several small chips to inner rim where a lid would rest. Tiny handle nick. H 11 3/4".
