Extremely Rare Cobalt-Decorated Virginia Stoneware Bank, Stamped "E. SUTER / Harrisonburg / Rockingham Co. / Va.," circa 1880, ovoid jug-form bank with button-shaped, cobalt-highlighted finial and carved slot in shoulder. Impressed with rare Emmanuel Suter maker's mark near base. This bank is the only signed pottery bank by Suter we are aware of. Broken into pieces and reglued. Lacking handle. Filled spot on right side of bank. H 4 3/4".
