Rare Anna Pottery Salt-Glazed Stoneware Pig Bottle, attributed to Wallace and Cornwall Kirkpatrick, Anna, IL, circa 1880, molded pig-form bottle with opening at rear, decorated with an incised map of the Midwest. Map includes the following landmarks: Anna Pottery, Miss River, Odin, Sandoval, Grand Tower, Centralia, Carbondale, Mounds, Cairo, Ohio River, Dunleth, Chicago the Present Porkopolis and great corn mart, and Cincinnati the ancient Porkopolis. Pig features incised hooves and facial features, including finely-executed eyes and a highly unusual tooth extending from the lower jaw on each side. A whimsical and highly-prized American stoneware form. Chips to top of snout. Contact marks on top of pig. Damage to tail. Tiny nick to spout. Penis lost during firing. Two chips to one hoof. Length 7 1/2".
