Cobalt-Decorated Ovoid Stoneware Jug, Stamped "CLARK & FOX / ATHENS," New York State origin, circa 1830, highly ovoid jug with semi-squared spout and ribbed handle, decorated with a brushed cobalt flower or wreath surrounding the maker's mark. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some in-the-firing contact marks on the shoulder area, as well as two faint lines on underside and some minor base chipping, all of which likely occurred during the firing. H 11 1/4".
