Rare Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Elaborate Flower Basket Decoration, Stamped "HAXSTUN & CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1880, straight-sided crock with thick rounded rim, decorated with a large, slip-trailed cobalt design of a scroll-handled basket holding a large flower and numerous leaves, embellished with dotted and curling trails of cobalt slip. Desirable design with excellent color. Missing one handle. A few chips on exterior of rim and a few chips on interior of rim. Large, circular separation crack on underside, which occurred in the making, and does not go through to interior. H 11 3/8".
