Rare Small-Sized Stoneware People Jar, attributed to Norval Greenland, Uniontown, PA, circa 1870, approximately half-gallon jar decorated with a brushed cobalt design of a woman holding a parasol flanked by two trees. An arching sponged design extends across the shoulder area. Highly desirable decoration and exceptional size. Three large base flakes, measuring 2", 1 3/4", and 1 3/4", and appear to have occurred during the firing. 1/2" rim chip to reverse. Light wear to Albany slip glaze on interior rim area. H 7".
