Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Paddletail Bird Decoration, Stamped "N.A. WHITE & SON / UTICA, N.Y.," circa 1885, straight-sided crock with applied lug handles, decorated with a large brushed and slip-trailed cobalt design of a paddletail bird perched on a morning glory vine. "Wrinkles" in surface on front and back, a flaw which occurred during the firing. Spot of bubbling to bird's wing. Light burn with contact mark on bird's tail. Spots of staining. H 12 7/8".
