Rare Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Running Deer Decoration, Stamped "F. WOODWORTH / BURLINGTON, VT.," circa 1870, large-sized straight-sided jug with tooled spout and applied handle, decorated with a brushed cobalt design of a large running stag with turned head, the scene accented with a pine tree to the animal's right and bushes below. 3" x 1 1/2" loss to base of jug on reverse, which does not go through to interior. Two in-the-firing touch marks to shoulder. Spout chips. H 18".
