Outstanding Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Bird in Wreath Decoration, Stamped "JORDAN," New York State origin, circa 1850, narrow jug with tooled shoulder and wide, squared spout. Decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a bird with striped wing and solid blue face and neck, perched within a wreath of leaves. Large daisy-like flowers are slip-trailed to the left and right of the wreath. Slip-trailed "2" above design. A beautiful decoration with dramatic color. 3/4" U-shaped line at base. Spout chips. Small nick to handle, and 1/2" line in spout above handle. Two hairlines on right side of jug, measuring 7 1/2" and 4 1/2". H 15 1/2".
