Exceptional Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "B.C. MILBURN / ALEXA," circa 1850, straight-sided jar with rounded and tooled shoulder, and thin squared rim, profusely-decorated with a cobalt flowering plant design, including five blossoms and numerous leaves. Reverse decorated with three horizontal flowers. Highly desirable small size and outstanding decoration. Rim chip. Sealed crack extending from rim onto underside and up oppposite side of jar. H 8".
