Outstanding Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Slip-Trailed Cobalt Floral and Chainlink Decorations, Stamped "B.C. MILBURN / ALEXA," circa 1850, squat, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim, decorated on the front with a slip-trailed flowering plant bearing two tulip-shaped blossoms. Reverse and sides decorated with a draped chainlink design. Rim decorated completely around with a wavy slip-trailed line. Highly desirable size and fantastic decoration. Near mint condition with a base chip and hairline on underside, which does not appear to go through to interior. H 8 1/4".
