Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Slip-Trailed Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "F. STETZENMEYER. & Co. / ROCHESTER . N.Y.," circa 1855, ovoid jug with thick spout and applied strap handle, decorated with an artistically-rendered, slip-trailed flower with shaded petals and leaves, curling stamen, and dashed trail to the right. 1 1/2" and 1" stone pings on side of jug. 2 1/4" shallow base chip, which probably occurred in the making. Two spout chips, one of which is very small. 2 1/2" Y-shaped hairline from base on side of jug. Additional 2" vertical hairline from base on reverse. A few small contact marks on front, and one contact mark on reverse. H 15".
